The Truth About Cancer: A Global Quest Part 2 and 3 Notes

Episode Two focused on breast cancer; the history of the “Pink Ribbon”, mammograms and an alternative way to get your boobies checked and the myth about hormones and the cancer connection.  If you want to know more, just click on the links:  (Astrazeneca sponsors the breast cancer fundraising walks…and that’ all I gotta say about that.)

Episode Three focused on the importance of nutrition; something I am passionate about!  I am 99% positive that the processed foods I ate for several years, caused my rectal cancer. At the time, I considered myself a vegetarian but the main ingredient missing from my diet was fresh fruits and vegetables! What was I thinking?  The fact is, I wasn’t. I just threw junk food in my grocery cart and went home and ate it because it was convenient (like so many Americans do everyday). I also believed, if it was for sale in the grocery store, it was safe to eat.

I should have known something was up though because I had digestive problems a few days after my diet change to vegetarianism, but I didn’t connect the dots… and the doctors I went to see about my health problems didn’t either. In case you’re wondering why I gave up meat, my dad died at age 54 from heart disease. He was a meat and potatoes kinda guy (in his case, the meat was a Big Mac and the potatoes were french fries). I was approaching 50 and didn’t want to end up like him, although I didn’t eat fast food. I did eat plenty of chicken injected with hormones and God-knows-what else!

Ever since I changed my diet to  plant-based, drank fresh juices and green smoothies (that I make at home), my digestion issues are gone! And let’s not forget the cancer is gone too! If I remained a passive patient (like I was before the correct diagnosis) I would not be here today!  All my doctors told me to eat whatever I wanted but I knew they were wrong.

Ty Bolinger interviewed people who healed themselves eating real foods and taking herbs. If you want to know more, click the links.

Cherie Calbom aka: The Juice Lady discussed the importance of juicing (and you don’t need to buy an expensive juicer to get the same healthy results). The video link is not her interview with Bolinger, but her message is the same:

A study done in Sweden shows what happens to your body when you eat organic for only two weeks:

We can’t talk about food without mentioning the elephant in the room, RoundUp and it’s main ingredient, glyphosate. The World Health Organization called glyphosate a carcinogen and if you eat conventional produce, you probably have traces of this insecticide in your skins tissues. Every time I see a jug of it  for sale at the hardware store, I cringe!

Which brings me to my biggest peeve…GMOs and how our government officials refuse to require GMOs to be labeled on all foods we eat. Do you know over 50 countries either require labeling or ban this stuff altogether? This is what happens when we give away our power to people who have no moral compass and choose to accept campaign contributions from corporations who also have no moral compass!

The documentary also touched on the subject of botanical medicine. The following link is not from the video, but does give a good explanation of what it is:

Cancer Survivors Don’t Eat Healthy Foods

A friend sent me this article by the LA Times: After Cancer, Survivors Do Not Make Healthy Food Choices.

At first, I’m thinking, What will it take for people to wake up and realize they probably got sick because they made choices that were bad for their health? But after I calm down, I remember my team of doctors never told me to change my eating habits or lifestyle. I don’t think they even asked me those questions: What do you eat? Do you exercise? They did ask if I smoked, drank alcohol or used illegal drugs. In my opinion, food can be just as lethal as any of those. For example; sugar. It’s addicting. I still have problems with it and I hardly ever eat sugar, but when I do have a small piece of dark chocolate or cupcake, within a couple of hours my brain asks for more. If you don’t know that food can be addicting, without thinking about it, you eat another candy bar, not knowing you’re hurting your health. I know because I watched the nurses in the infusion center cram their faces with Halloween candy. You’d think they would know better.

Now a days, I’m really good about what I put in my body. Before I eat anything, I ask myself if it will help or harm me. How many ordinary people who’ve been through cancer treatments or are currently in treatment think about food and how it affects them? I know when I was in the hospital, the menu was basically crap. I was lucky, my family brought me food that I requested from the outside (something my doctors weren’t happy about because they couldn’t monitor if I was eating or not). They told me over and over to eat anything I wanted, but I knew better because I took the time to do my homework. My doctors tried to figure out why I got cancer; they ran every test imaginable, and came up empty, but I’m willing to bet none of them wondered if it was my diet and lifestyle. I know it was because I became my own detective. Everything I read pointed to it.

As soon as I figured it out, I changed my diet overnight and took charge of my healthcare. I took back the power I gave to my doctors and we became a team, with me being the coach. Chemo and radiation sucked and I have no intention of going through that again. Someone told me I wouldn’t be able to stick with my “new life.” Her words angered me and at the same time empowered me. What she didn’t know is that I have will power and that’s what it takes to make any life altering change. I also learned to love myself 100% and that includes self-care.

I’m really sad to read this article because I can’t imagine someone intentionally harming themselves, especially after a cancer scare. I don’t know anyone who wants to do that again. If you ask me, its the fault of our healthcare system. Our doctors know hardly anything about the importance of nutrition and I blame that on medical schools getting donations from the biotech industry. Are you going to say anything bad about someone whose paying your bills? Biotech makes the fake foods you find on your grocery store shelves; processed foods filled with chemicals and genetically modified ingredients. The good news is, everyday consumers are learning about healthy eating through social media (forget about mainstream media, they are owned by the same corporations who will do anything they can to keep us in the dark when it comes to what’s “really” in that canned, packaged or box of processed food). They don’t care if it makes you sick, they care about making money!

I hope people read and think about the article in the  LA Times, their lives may depend on it.

Be well!

That Isn’t a Nutritional Shake; It’s a Chemical Shit Storm Cocktail

This post is actually a re-blog from Carroll Krause who has cancer.  I agree with everything this woman writes and more. It’s about our medical profession and how uneducated they are about REAL nutrition, although the author’s post is much more polite than me. I will come out and say it;  our doctors, nurses, hospitals, and medical schools have been hijacked by the chemical industry for tooooooo long!

The garbage they pass off as food is nothing more than a CHEMICAL SHIT STORM packaged and marketed as “natural.”  They are making us sick and KNOWLINGLY do so! These same companies, who should be in prison, then make the drugs you see advertised every other minute on TV, to MANAGE the diseases THEY caused! Keeping us sick is big business and they have no intention of changing their business model, so it is up to you to inform yourself, read labels, or better yet, make your meals from scratch. It isn’t that hard. You and your family’s health is well worth the effort.

The hospital I stayed at when I had cancer, sent me a bottle of Ensure with each meal. I called the kitchen and told them I wouldn’t drink that crap, but they kept sending it anyway because my doctor prescribed it. I threw them away, but you better believe they charged me for them. I repeat…doctors have no idea what nutrition is!

Now that I got that off my chest… enjoy Carroll’s post.
