Food Cravings Could Mean Your Body Needs Certain Nutrients

orange-banana

When I was going through cancer treatment, I craved potato soup, bananas and oranges. I ate 2 bowls of soup and 2 bananas every day. I went through 5 pounds of oranges a week. I cut the oranges in quarters and sucked out the juice, leaving the pulp.

Since then I found out that some holistic doctors give their cancer patients high doses of vitamin C intravenously. Studies done by the National Cancer Institute confirm that high doses of vitamin C did help shrink malignant tumors. I also read that bananas are good at controlling diarrhea and I had a lot of that due to radiation and chemo.

My healthy diet consisted of more than just bananas, potatoes and oranges, but I seemed to crave them the most. My body instinctively knew what it needed to heal itself… and if you pay attention, so does yours.

Here is a food craving chart that can help you decide which healthy foods to eat, instead of reaching for junk food (since most of us crave sugar and salt):

The Right to Die with Dignity

1297472484900_ORIGINAL

***WARNING! The following post is about the right to die. It may be disturbing for some of you, so my suggestion is — don’t read it.

In case you don’t know, a terminally ill woman in San Diego asked a judge for “permission” to take her own life and her request is being dismissed. Currently 5 states : Oregon, Washington, Vermont, New Mexico and Montana allow assisted suicide for terminally ill patients… California (which pretends to be the most progressive state in the union) does not.

For those of you who don’t know my story I will briefly explain: I was diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer over 4 years ago which for most people is a terminal prognosis. I won’t sugar coat my experience; I went through fucking hell! For a moment I wasn’t sure if I would make it, so “I” decided I would take my own life if my QUALITY OF LIFE was not how I wanted to live. My family never knew. Why? Because it is none of their business! This is MY life and I DO NOT need PERMISSION from ANYONE, especially a judge or the state!

I am healthy now thanks to my doctors and MY efforts to get well. I know there will come a time when I will die. Its part of the lifecycle. If I get sick from something that will make my quality of life miserable, I will take my life while I still feel good enough and am strong enough to do it myself. I REPEAT, I DO NOT NEED PERMISSION from anyone to make that decision.

As for any right-to-lifers, I say mind your own business and keep your own house in order. If you want to suffer and think you’ll get a front row seat in heaven for doing so — be my guest. My life choices are none of your business and YOUR life choices are none of mine.

This is MY opinion based on how I CHOOSE to live MY life. You definitely get to choose how you want to live yours.

Be well,

Inge

Massage Therapy and Cancer

massage

I worked as a massage therapist for 3 years and I loved it! I enjoyed giving massage as well as receiving it, in fact the best part of going to massage school was getting a massage! A small percentage of my clients had cancer and they came to see me because their bones ached. When I had cancer, I understood what they were saying. All those drugs effected my bones, muscles and joints. I still have problems 4 years later and all I can do is manage the symptoms with yoga—and massage.

A paper written in 2007 by The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), part of the United States National Library of Medicine (NLM), a branch of the National Institutes of Health, discusses the benefits of massage and how it is being offered to patients as a complimentary treatment, not only for cancer but a host of other medical problems.

If you know someone who is going through cancer treatment, a gift card for a massage would be a welcome¬†surprise (unless they are the small population who doesn’t like to be touched).

Be well,

Inge
