A crowd of around 200 + showed up with their pets to the annual “Blessing of the animals” event at Long Beach last Sunday. This is the first time I went (Although I’ve been wanting to go for years). This event is held worldwide on this day. I had such a good time, I will be back every year. It was great to see such a variety of different people, culturally and socioeconomic come together to celebrate and share their love for animals. So many of us forget that we are stewards of this planet and that includes it creatures. Each clergy representing their faith reminded us of that and to pray for animals who suffer from illness, neglect and abuse.
I believe all creatures are sentient beings and deserve love and compassion, whether they walk, crawl, swim or fly.
Clergy from different spiritual faiths arriving to bless the domestic and farm animals
Priestess Ava from The Goddess Temple Orange County was my favorite (but all the clergy were pretty cool too)
Kitties with their parents walking the red carpet
Justin Rudd (Haute Dogs), Master of Ceremonies and event organizer
All creatures large and small…
Hope you enjoyed the pictures. I had fun taking them.
Namaste!
